Our Story
2006
In 2006, in the rural village of Mweruka, Uganda, Solomon Mutebi founded Blessings of Joy with a bold vision: to educate children who had never seen a classroom and to share the Gospel across Uganda. At the time, Mweruka had no school—not even the concept of one. The first students gathered in the shade of a rented house, many of them orphaned by HIV/AIDS, all of them eager to learn.
2007
In 2007, Blessings of Joy was fully registered as a non-government organization in the Republic of Uganda.
2008
In 2008, Blessings of Joy was incorporated in the state of Colorado and later received 501(C) 3 tax exemption status from the IRS in the U.S.A.
2009
In 2009, Blessings of Joy started the work of evangelism. The first gospel ministry was carried out at Katwe, a Kampala suburb and later in Kyanamukaaka, Masaka, Uganda. Over the years, over 500 people have come to Jesus Christ and accepted him as their Lord and Savior.
2012
In 2012 while in Kayunga sharing the gospel, Blessings of Joy helped to construct a local church. Since that time, three more churches have been built.
Now
Today, Blessings of Joy serves over 400 students through Mweruka Junior School, providing quality primary education, daily nutrition, hygiene programs, and compassionate care. We support vulnerable families, invest in local development, and share the hope of Christ through nationwide gospel outreach—still driven by the same faith that started it all.
Mission Statement
To equip future leaders through education by partnering with individuals, non-profit organizations, NGOs, (non-governmental organizations), and churches for holistic societal transformation, to empowering them to fulfill their God-given life purpose.
Vision Statement
To create a brighter future by empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged children and uplifting communities in Uganda through sustainable and impactful initiatives.
At Blessings of Joy we believe in the Holy Trinity. One God, eternal, infinite, and unchangeable but in three persons: God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26; Matthew 28:19)
We believe that the Bible is God’s own word, written by men as inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Scripture is the authority and guide to our Christian walk. (2 Timothy 3: 16-17)
We believe that Jesus Christ is God. He was born by the Virgin Mary after being conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18; Isaiah 7:14) and became man so that he might save mankind. The Lord Jesus Christ became man without ceasing to be God. Christ redeemed mankind through his voluntary sacrifice at the cross.
We believe the Holy Spirit is the giver of life and that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16: 8-11). After one accepts Jesus as their Lord and savior, the Holy Spirit brings in new life and dwells in the life of those born again (John 3:5-6).
We believe that salvation comes by grace and not by character or good deeds. Christ’s death and resurrection are enough for salvation for all. However, true salvation is received through faith in the Lord Christ Jesus. Anyone who repents, believes and confesses that Jesus is Lord and savior is born again (John 3:16).
We believe that our Lord Christ Jesus, who died, rose again, and ascended to heaven, will come back (Acts 1: 9-11). Those dead in Christ will rise from the dead, and those alive will be caught up in the air to join Christ (1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18).
At Blessings of Joy we believe that every child is a minister, is called, and is important to the body and kingdom of Christ (Matthew 19:14).
