Student meal
Uganda has one of the highest rates of child malnutrition and undernutrition of the African nations.
At Mweruka Junior School, food isn’t just a meal—it’s a ministry of hope, health, and opportunity. For many of our students, school lunch is their most reliable meal of the day. Without it, hunger would stand in the way of learning.
That’s why the Blessings of Joy Nutrition Fund exists: to ensure every child receives nutritious meals that fuel both body and mind.
Each morning, students receive warm porridge made from maize, soya, and milk boosters. On Fridays, attendance is always highest—because that’s when the cooks serve stew with Irish potatoes, beans, vegetables, and even silverfish. Seasonal fruits like pineapple and watermelon round out the meal, and vitamins and deworming medication are provided each trimester to support whole-body health.
A community garden supplements the school’s supply, and Blessings of Joy provides beans and rice to vulnerable families through sponsorship support. Since the program began, teachers report more energy, better focus, fewer illnesses, and brighter smiles.
Your gift nourishes more than a body—it fuels a future.
